Factions and belonging

This article's status describes its scope. See development status for current limits.

Power in the Unbound Realms is divided among states, churches, houses, companies, and smaller institutions.

Start with the region#

The Reach's broken succession, the Iron Heartland's military order, the Azure Isles' maritime inheritance, and Umbra Magni's administrative authority produce different kinds of institutions. The Khavari cultures and the southern powers have their own history and legitimacy. A familiar organizational label does not make two factions interchangeable.

Find the powers underneath#

The encyclopedia includes merchant compacts, religious groups, military companies, clandestine societies, and political houses. These smaller powers can cross borders and shape the life of a city without being a country.

Vampire courts and necromantic orders#

Alongside living kingdoms and merchant republics, dark-fantasy vampire courts and necromantic conclaves hold twilight estates and charnel strongholds across the eras of the Unbound Realms—from The Sable Rose Courts and The Bone Tithe Synod to scenario powers such as the Covenant of the Ashen Bell, Court of the Sanguine Chalice, The Ossuary Synod, Order of the Crimson Vespers, Gravebinders of Kal-Zhul, The Nocturne Peerage, The Sepulchral Archivists, and The Palatine Bloodline. While living realms shun necromancer lords and declare Purge Necromancy wars when a town is slaughtered and raised, vampire and necromancer powers welcome risen rulers as vassals, liege lords, and allies.

Lore and a particular campaign#

A faction article explains public identity and background. It does not establish who currently holds a district in your generated world, whether a leader survived a simulation event, or how that group regards your particular character.

Follow the connections#

Read a faction alongside its region and faith. Search its name, the institution's preferred language, or a god's name to find related entries. The article's contents list makes longer institutional histories easier to navigate.
