The Gilded Tusk Brotherhood

Public lore preserves the setting's disagreements and uncertain histories.

Crew Federation — Corsair Coasts#

"They board hard and split clean. Argue the prize ledger with a Tusk captain if you want — just know he'll be right."

The Gilded Tusk Brotherhood is the most disciplined and feared privateer federation operating along the Corsair Coasts, headquartered across three fortress-havens built from the hulls of captured warships reinforced with salvaged stone. Founded by Iron-Bound veterans who found post-conquest frontier life insufficiently rewarding, the Brotherhood combines military hierarchy with maritime opportunism — treating prize capture as a form of professional logistics rather than chaos.

The Brotherhood's reputation rests on two qualities that most corsair outfits lack: honest accounting and reliable force. Every prize is inventoried at capture, valued by a Brotherhood assessor, and divided by a share ledger that every crew member can inspect. This precision has made them the preferred privateer partner of merchant houses willing to pay for predictable extortion rather than random violence. Their boarding actions are coordinated and swift; their captains enforce strict rules against unnecessary killing, not from mercy but because live prisoners ransom better.

Beneath the mercenary professionalism runs a complicated identity. The Brotherhood's majority Iron-Bound membership means it carries the cultural tensions of the western conquest onto the water — most captains have complicated feelings about the noble houses they raid, and many privately fund the dockside Iron-Bound communities their prize money supports. Adventurers can find steady work as crew, specialists, or arbitrators; the Brotherhood hires outside talent for sensitive operations and pays well, but its internal politics are tribal and its loyalty tests are not always survived.
