Nord-Vast - The High North
Public lore preserves the setting's disagreements and uncertain histories.
The Mythic North Beyond the Heartland#
Nord-Vast begins where administration gives way to weather, stone, and story. It is a region of fjords, storm coasts, glacier tongues, black ridges, giant barrows, and winter rites older than many kingdoms. The north matters politically because it births movers of history, but it remains culturally irreducible. The same inlet may host a raider hall, a hermit shrine, a whale-bone yard, and a giant-haunted ice breach within a day's sail.
Biomes and Peoples#
Whale Grave Shores yield sacred shipbone and omen-fat to those willing to cut the dead beneath auroral skies. Thunder Glass Peaks preserve the violence of old storm sorcery in vitrified ridgelines. Winter Dream Forests bind shared dreaming to cold survival rites. Blue Ice Halls preserve mural histories and sealed powers beneath ancient glacial strata. Nord-Vast peoples include human jarldoms, giant-blood lineages, hold-dwarves, reclusive forest cults, and the Vorngard sea-clans.
Nord-Vast is the mythic far north: glacier coasts, black mountains, giant tombs, whale grave shores, storm-cults, winter dream forests, and fjords from which the Vorngard sail. It is less administratively coherent than the Iron Heartland and much more saturated with saga, omen, storm, and primal survival.
This region remains the cradle of hard peoples but not in one form. The Iron-Bound emerged from its southern military frontier; the Vorngard endure in its harsher maritime and giant-haunted belts. Nord-Vast is where myth still has weather.
