Fiends

Reference tables contain changeable development values.

Read the contract. Read it again. Then burn it, because the third reading is where they get you.

Fiends are beings of pure evil drawn from the lower planes, manifesting in the material world through summoning, broken wards, or sites of extraordinary suffering. Devils operate through contracts and hierarchies; demons through chaos and destruction. Both are drawn to the Unbound Realms by the metaphysical damage left by the Voiding.

Court devils are the preferred infernal agents in civilized lands. They appear in forms pleasing to mortals and offer bargains that seem reasonable until the fine print takes effect. The Pasharan satrapies in particular have a long history of contract devil interaction, and Pasharan contract law has evolved specifically to counter infernal loopholes.

Contract devils are the senior bureaucrats of Hell, entities of vast legal knowledge who can draft agreements binding on both mortal and divine authorities. Destroying the physical contract is rarely sufficient; the terms are recorded in infernal archives that can only be accessed by descending into the lower planes.
